The Delicate Fly Fisher – Cape Piscatorial Society

Ed Herbst writes: I've always wanted to write a book about crystal staircases, Lilliput streams (what A J McClane called 'Creep 'n Crawl' fishing'), found in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Yorkshire Dales, or near Cape Town. Years ago, Stephen Boshoff and I embarked on creating the ultimate light-line, small stream fly rod, and he suggested the title 'The Delicate Fly Fisher.' However, due to printing costs and my desire for free accessibility, I couldn't publish it. Fortunately, the Cape Piscatorial Society granted permission to include it in their archive. The book will be typeset by Barbara Mueller and Hannes Thiart of New Voices Publishing Services, who have already published notable fly fishing books. I will release a chapter every fortnight on the CPS website and Instagram, making it a 'living book' that can expand in the future. The first section delves into the history and challenges faced by fly angling in South Africa, while the rest covers small stream tackle, tactics, and patterns.
