A photograph taken in the 1960s of the Witte River above the weir before farmers bulldozed the run.
This black and white photograph was taken by Ed Herbst in the early ’80s after the farmers had, without consulting anyone, simply bulldozed a section of the river above the weir open. It shows Kas Hamman, then deputy director of Cape Nature Conservation.
