Ed Herbst writes: <\/strong>Since the First issue of Piscator <\/em>was published in March 1947 it has been a faithful chronicle of the evolution of fly fishing tactics in the streams and rivers near Cape Town. Initially, local anglers followed the tactics that had evolved in colonial-era Britain \u2013 big, garish flies fished down and across on sinking lines. That changed in the 1960s with the arrival of Mark MacKereth and a state of the art Pezon et Michel fly rod. Tony Biggs and Tom Sutcliffe took his ideas forward and, today, it is competition fly fishing that has significantly impacted on the tackle and tactics in contemporary use. This folder will reflect the evolution of tactics since that first issue of the magazine.<\/p>\n
